Information for Retired CRNI®s

Certified Registered Nurse Infusion-Retired (CRNI-R) Policy

To acknowledge the achievement and maintenance of the CRNI® credential, INCC offers the Certified Registered Nurse Infusion-Retired (CRNI-R) designation for CRNI®s who are retiring from the nursing profession.

The retiring CRNI® who meets the eligibility requirements, as defined by INCC, will receive a specially designed CRNI-R certificate. The CRNI-R can remain connected to developments within the infusion nursing specialty as they will receive all relevant INCC mailings, including the INCC Chronicle and information on upcoming INS educational events. The designation of CRNI-R may be used with any professional affiliation but not as a practicing CRNI®.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to qualify for CRNI-R status the retiree must meet the following requirements:

  • Retired from active nursing with no plans of returning to active nursing practice, confirmed by submission of a letter of retirement from their employer.
  • Have demonstrated dedication to the infusion nursing specialty through maintenance of the CRNI® credential for at least 6 consecutive years prior to retirement.
  • Submit the completed application form and letter of retirement along with the $75 fee, by December 31st of the expiration year.

The CRNI-R credential is renewable every 3 years. An updated application form and applicable fee should be submitted to INCC postmarked no later than December 31st the year of expiration. INCC will mail a reminder prior to expiration.

If the CRNI-R wishes to regain active CRNI® status he or she must meet the requirements currently applicable for initial certification.

If the CRNI-R is found to be actively practicing as a CRNI®, retired status will be revoked immediately and the option to regain CRNI® status will be removed.
