INCC RN Council
  The RN Examination Council (listed below), in conjunction with Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc. (AMP) are responsible for the development and administration of the CRNI® examination. The Council consists of CRNI®s who are recognized experts in the content areas of the examination. AMP is a national testing agency that contributes psychometric expertise to the test development, test administration and test evaluation process.

Kathy Puglise, CRNI®
Chair

Kathy joined the INCC RN Examination Council in 2003 and brings 20 years of nursing experience from the emergency ward to education. She began her nursing career at New Mexico State University and chose to specialize in infusion therapy shortly after graduation. Kathy is the President of the Eastern Virginia INS Chapter. She is affiliated with the Infusion Nurses Society, Virginia Society of Health System Pharmacists, and the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care. Kathy was voted CRNI® of the Year in 2001. 

In addition to a demanding volunteer schedule, Kathy is working towards a dual Masters degree in nursing and a Masters degree in education. Kathy is the co-founder of HomeChoice Partner, Inc., based in Norfolk, VA, which recently was acquired by Davita, Inc. HomeChoice Partners, a home infusion provider, employs approximately 40 nurses and provides care to about 2000 patients. All nurses are required to pursue the CRNI® credential and HomeChoice Partners pays for its maintenance.                                                                                        

Debbie Potts, RN, CRNI®, OCN®
Secretary
 

Debbie has been an RN for over 30 years, a CRNI® since 1996, and an OCN® for over 8 years. She has been involved in home infusion therapy for over 15 years. Currently employed by the Department of Pharmacy at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, she serves as the infusion coordinator for their home infusion service line. She has served as treasurer and is a past president of her local INS North Carolina chapter. Debbie is also involved with ONS and is a regional network contact for the homecare special interest group. She is also on the board of directors for Sunset Wish Foundation, a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to terminally ill adults. 

Cindy Brown, GNP-BC, RN, ARNP, CCRN, CRNI®
Member

Cindy has worked in the healthcare field for over 30 years and as a nurse for the last 22 years, having graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Masters Degree in Nursing. Prior to nursing she enjoyed a career in emergency management as a Paramedic.
She currently works as an Advanced Practice Nurse at Lakeland Regional Cancer Center. Cindy has been a CRNI® since 1997 and has been a speaker at a national INS meeting. She is a member of the National Infusion Nursing Network and a member of the INS task force for the PICC Module revision.

She has been active with the Gulf Coast chapter of INS for many years, serving in many capacities on the Board of Directors and committees.

Cynthia is currently serving an orientation period with the RN Exam Council. Her term will officially commence at the RN Exam Council meeting in March 2011.
 

 

Donna Gordon, MSN, RN, CRNI®

Donna has worked with the Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, NC, for over 30 years. After spending 10 years working with adult medical, surgical, orthopedic, and oncology patients, Donna joined the IV Team, where she spent the next 21 years. As a member of the team, Donna served as a staff nurse and an RN III, gaining extensive experience with peripheral and transfusion therapy, central catheter care and maintenance, and admixture and administration of chemotherapy. A CRNI® since 1987, Donna is currently the IV Educator for the 5-hospital healthcare system. 

 

Kenn Jones, RN, CRNI® 
Member

Kenn Jones earned his CRNI® credential in 2001 and joined the RN Exam Council in 2006. He brought with him a wealth of experience in infusion nursing, having been involved in infusion therapy for over 25 years. Kenn has worked in many clinical settings, from RN/paramedic to paramedic instructor, a nursing consultant overseeing over 100 nurses, physicians, and social workers to his current position as IV Therapy/Lead Clinical Advisor, where he is responsible for operations of the IV therapy department.

Currently, Kenn works as a Clinical Nurse Educator at a major medical center. In this role he  provides infusion therapy education to staff and consults with unit-based educators on issues such as central line bundles, "scrubbing the hub," and the selection of infusion therapy equipment. When providing infusion therapy education he makes a point to include information related to biofilm and its significance in catheter-associated bloodstream infections. Additionally, he places a strong emphasis on the importance of hand hygiene when working with infusion patients.

Kenn is a longtime member of the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) and the Puget Sound INS chapter.
 

Susan Poole, BSN, MS, RN, CRNI®, CNSN 
Member

Susan has worked in the healthcare for over 25 years. She is a graduate of Arizona State University with a BS in Nursing and has a Master of Science in Nutrition from California State University, Chico. Her job functions have included responsibility for the professional growth and development of the Walgreens-OptionCare Home Infusion network clinically and operationally. Susan has been a CRNI® for over 20 years and is also certified in Nutrition Support. She has authored or coauthored numerous articles in infusion publications: Journal of Infusion Nursing; Journal of Vascular Access Networks; American Journal of Health-System Pharmacists; Journal of Pharmacy Practice; and Journal of Interventional Radiology.

Ginny Strootman, MSN, RN, CRNI®
Member

Ginny has been a nurse for 22 years and an infusion nurse for the last 18 years. She is currently Corporate Nurse Consultant for Seniors Management North, where she is responsible for the oversight of 10 long-term care facilities, ensuring compliance with regulations, as well as development of educational programs for licensed nurses. Ginny also provides IV educational programs to senior nursing students at Neumann University and Holy Family University.

Her previous roles have included positions as a nurse manager and general manager for several home infusion companies. Ginny has been a speaker at national INS meetings and has coauthored an article in Nurse Practice Management. She is a member of the National Infusion Nursing Network and was a member of the task force that developed the INS Flushing Protocols.
